DVR Technology
Difference of Digital and Videotape
Digital video recording or its acronym DVR is the lastest surveillance technology that provides full digital recording, remote surveillance access, remote device controls and many more. It is a computerized surveillance system that combines all the features of a traditional videotape system by integrating a color quad processor, multiplexer, motion sensors, cctv monitor, pand & tilts control, time lapse recorder and accessories into one whole unit.

The old fashion videotape surveillance system in the past need ongoing effort to work properly. Here is where DVR comes in. DVR system will run automatically and by itself without any assistance. Forget your videotapes forever! About picture quality, the quality on videotape is poor because tape systems share four or more pictures in one video frame. The quality on videotape also degrades each time it's used due to head wear, tape stretch, and decomposition of the videotape coating. This means that videotape reused too many times. Contrary, DVR uses one picture per video frame, and all cameras can be viewed together with superior picture quality.

Meanwhile, locating footage on tape can also be time-consuming. Finding the image for printing by fast forwarding and reversing the control buttons requires a stroke of luck. Most probably, the printed image will come out blurry, unidentifiable and fuzzy. On the other hand, DVR system uses a calendar-assisted search tool that allows fast and efficient searching by day, date and time. DVR images are stored on the computer's hard drive rather than on videotape This preserves the picture quality as well as allows fast data retrieval. Locating requested video footage on DVR can be done in seconds. It can be saved as a JPG, or AVI file.

Data Recording
Recorded video can be stored for up to 3 months with motion detection recording and scalable camera zone coverage. Scalable camera some coverage allows picture of unwanted areas to be blocked.

Motion Detection
Motion Detection are recorded to the DRV system as the video frame changes. Video recording will be activated when people walking or moving. With motion detection, it save hard drive space. It is a software-based motion detection system and external motion sensors are not required.

Independent Camera Programming
Security camera and whatever it records will be directly controlled. DVR enable users to decide which cameras record and time to be recorded. Timed scheduling function is used to set specific camera to record at certain time, and others to record continuously. Resolution, motion detection type, frame rate, contrast and brightness can be set according to each camera needs.

Remote Device Controls
Using optional control unit, users can open and close gates or toggle lights or switches on and off remotely. Watch security cameras and control other devices from another remote location.

High Speed Internet Access
High Speed DSL or fast internet access is greatly recommended for remote viewing of security cameras. Remote access will work with 56k modem but it also depends on size of phone lines. Video images might be slower due to the size of common phone lines. That's the difference between DSL and 56k modem access. Bigger size means faster data transaction and that also means faster video images loading time.
